HAFSA NOUMAN

Hafsa Nouman (b.1998)
is a Pakistani visual artist based in New Haven, CT. She graduated with a
distinction in Painting from the National College of Arts (2022) and is
currently pursuing an MFA in Painting/Printmaking at the Yale School of Art.
Nouman focuses on the deconstruction of colonial arrangements embedded in patriarchal spaces both monumental and domestic; through architectural typologies of thresholds such as doors, walls, and wrought iron patterns. Nouman uses these thresholds, specifically the wrought iron pattern, to understand the relation between object and painting.
